How to Set Up Sound Barriers

Sound barriers are acoustic blankets or panels that reduce noise from generators, equipment and job sites — useful for noise-sensitive areas and code compliance.

This is a general guide — always follow the specific unit's manual and contact us with any questions.

⚠ Safety essentials

  • Secure barriers so they can't blow over or fall in wind.
  • Keep barriers a safe distance from hot equipment (like generator exhaust) to avoid fire risk.
  • Don't block equipment ventilation or airflow when placing barriers.

Step by step

1

Identify the noise source

Determine what's generating the noise and the direction you need to block (toward homes, offices, etc.).

2

Choose placement

Position barriers between the source and the area you're protecting, as close to the source as safely possible.

3

Mount securely

Hang or fasten the acoustic blankets/panels to fencing or frames so they're stable and won't fall.

4

Maintain clearances

Keep required clearance from hot surfaces and don't obstruct equipment air intakes or exhaust.

5

Check coverage

Walk the protected side to confirm gaps are covered — sound leaks through openings.
