How to Use a HEPA Air Scrubber
HEPA air scrubbers filter airborne particles — dust, mold spores, smoke and other contaminants — and can create negative air pressure for containment during remediation.

- Check the filters are properly seated before use; a bypassed filter defeats the purpose.
- In remediation, follow containment protocols — improper setup can spread contaminants.
- Use GFCI power and keep the unit dry.
Step by step
Choose air-scrubbing or negative air
Decide whether you're cleaning air within a space (recirculate) or creating negative pressure for containment (exhaust outside).
Position the unit
Place it centrally for air scrubbing, or at the containment boundary with ducting to the exterior for negative air.
Check/stage the filters
Confirm the pre-filter and HEPA filter are installed and seated. Pre-filters catch large debris and extend HEPA life.
Size the airflow
Match the unit's CFM to the room volume for the air changes per hour your job requires.
Run continuously
Operate continuously through the work, and monitor/replace filters as they load up.
