How to Use a Portable Air Conditioner / Spot Cooler
Portable air conditioners and spot coolers provide targeted temporary cooling for events, server rooms, work areas and temperature-sensitive spaces.
This is a general guide — always follow the specific unit's manual and contact us with any questions.
⚠ Safety essentials
- Use GFCI power and don't overload circuits.
- Ensure the hot-air exhaust is ducted away from the space being cooled.
- Keep condensate drainage clear to avoid water pooling.
Step by step
Position the unit
Place the cooler near the area or equipment you need to cool, on a level surface.
Duct the hot exhaust
Route the warm-air exhaust duct out of the cooled space (to a ceiling plenum, adjacent area or outside) — otherwise you add heat back.
Manage condensate
Set up the condensate drain or empty the tank as needed.
Set temperature & run
Set your target temperature and run. Close off the space for best results.
Adjust airflow
Aim the cold-air outlet at the target and adjust as conditions change.
